Decorating Dilemma: How can I improve my curb appeal?

phloxSpring is a great time to spruce up your curb appeal! And if you’re selling, curb appeal is critical.

A few tips:

1) Front Door: This is your focal point. Make sure it looks great.  Painting it a bright color can add a lot of punch:  orange, yellow, red, turquoise, and green are popular.

2) Lighting: New light fixtures can make a huge difference. Home Depot, Lowes, and Bellacor have great options. I like the clear glass ones with some twinkle. Watch out on size though – too big or small can look wrong.

3) Plants: Get two planters for each side of the front door or walkway. Each spring and fall, plant some fresh flowers. If your porch gets a lot of shade, look for shade plants.

4) Phlox (pictured): It’s so pretty it deserves it’s own bullet point. It’s beautiful around retaining walls, stones, or at the base of a walkway. It adds some pop each spring and spreads out nicely over the years.
