How’s the Market? Washington DC August 2012

Check out this video for the latest stats and trends!  Here’s a quick summary of the storyline…

– Strong demand:  New pending contracts were up 13.8% this August compared to last August

– Tightening supply:  There were 34.8% fewer active listings this August than August last year, the lowest August level in 8 years.

– Prices going up:  Median sale prices were up 9.8% this August over last August.

So it is a great time to sell!  It’s also still an excellent time to buy with historically low interest rates.  Let me know if I can help.  Or if you know someone looking to buy or sell, I always appreciate referrals: 202-905-5369 /

Eye Candy: A Charming Family Home!

Ever wonder want to do with your grandfather’s old chair or your great aunt’s artwork?

Check out how this couple made perfect use of family heirlooms to create a warm and inviting dream home, featured recently on Houzz!

Words to decorate by from owner Enid Brock:  “I wanted every room to be cozy, with a sunny corner where you could sit with a book, or a place to warm your toes in front of the fire.”

She was inspired by A Pattern Language, by Christopher Alexander.
